Levi Drop

An innocent man. Steven was interested in my Mugshot Project, and asked for a photo in front of my Police Line Up wall. He was definitely a man in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A comic friend. Steven stopped by the studio for a visit and I snapped a photo of the man BEHIND the painting, in FRONT of the painting.    

Tiny Gallery | Size. I haven't put an installation in the Tiny Gallery for a while. This is the first time I included a video display. Anyway, the R&S painting is in the window for anyone strolling around the path on Silver Lake.  

I Will Paint You | Episode 1 | The Painting. Sometimes I’m good. Sometimes I’m lucky. This was a little bit of both.

I think we're getting somewhere. Upon finishing the Robert and Steven paintings, I laid them out in the sun to dry. The heat caused subtle cracks in the oil, giving it the appearance of an old sign that you would find leaning on the side of an old gas station.

This is my favorite painting. I don't remember how I got to this painting, but it's everything I need to put into all my art.

Work in Progress | Two Faces. Now that I got the two faces, combining them are going to be fun.

Work in Progress | Adding Steven. I thought adding Steven would balance out the imagery.

Persistence pays off. I was working and I kept getting these notifications from Joshua . He went through my entire timeline and liked every single post, which was an interesting way to get my attention (please don't do it).

Work in Progress | The Robert Painting. Robert's bright eyes inspired me to start a new series of painting. Let's see where this goes.

Many many thoughts. Evan lives in the neighborhood. I wanted to catch his pensive gaze.

The fighter. I wanted to do a painting of a bruiser. I guess I found one.

Eyes so bright. Okay, this illustration of Robert Ryan makes me laugh. He's got Bette Davis eyes.

This painting hangs in my room. I didn't know how accurate this portrait was going to be. I just thought I liked the spark plug. Turns out Todd is crazy about cars.

Gary is a star. I drew Gary Hilborn because he was completely fun to draw. He has this great chin and engaging eyes that are framed by ridiculously expressive eyebrows.

This painting is in Sweden. Had a visitor to the studio who decided to take this painting home.

Nolan in trouble. I think it was Nolan 's idea to flip off the camera and pixelate it, because it makes complete sense to anger the police when you are in jail, and just in case TMZ leaks the mugshot, you want to look good.

Nolan is always around, so eventually I had to paint him. He’s retro rock ’n’ roll in this mugshot, which makes me laugh, because he’s so NOT a bad boy.

MOTORHEAD 2014. Oil and acrylic on wood | 25" x 24" I started this portrait with the idea of a quiet man, who was good with his hands, knew how to fix things and keep his beard straight.

A face to remember. I sold a painting. I lent my paintings to decorate a common area in a new media company. When I went to retrieve them, the office manager liked looking at one of them enough to buy it.

A barber from Los Angeles. Joe Bruno wouldn’t be my first choice for an illustration. He’s handsome and good looking people aren’t fun to draw. A comic from Los Angeles. Out of all the submissions, I just had to draw Steven Torrez , who I think is one of Steven Brigg's stand-up comedy friends. His face was perfect for an illustration. A face from Pretoria. I needed illustration practice and thought I would draw someone from Facebook.
